Before you get started

Good questions.

Here’s what to expect from a first look.

What can the free assessment tell me?

It brings together available hazard information and property context for the two topics you choose. You’ll receive a personalized summary of potential concerns, practical next steps, and questions that may need a closer look.

Will someone visit my home?

The free assessment is completed remotely. It cannot confirm concealed conditions, drainage performance, slope stability, or how a building will perform in a disaster. Some concerns need an on-site review or a separately scoped assessment by a qualified professional.

Is this a home inspection or an official disclosure?

It is an initial assessment for homeowner preparedness and planning. It does not replace a home inspection for a property transaction, a Natural Hazard Disclosure report, an engineering or geological investigation, or an insurance determination.

Which homes can I submit?

We’re starting with existing single-family homes in Los Angeles County. You must own the home or have the owner’s permission. We’ll confirm the location and let you know if we need more information before reviewing it.

Do I need to upload photos or pay?

No photos, payment details, or account are needed to request the free assessment. If more information would help, we’ll ask by email. Any future paid service would have a separate scope and price for you to consider.
